Understanding Packaging MOQs

What minimum order quantities mean in bespoke packaging, why they vary and how quantity affects the most suitable manufacturing route.

What does MOQ mean?

MOQ means minimum order quantity: the smallest production run a manufacturer is prepared to make economically for a particular specification.

Why MOQs vary

The economical minimum depends on the construction, material, print process, tooling, finishing operations and factory setup involved. There is therefore no useful universal MOQ for every bespoke packaging project.

Quantity changes the manufacturing decision

A short run may suit one production method while a larger repeat order may justify a different process or overseas manufacturing route. The objective should be to choose the route that makes commercial sense for the actual requirement.

Discuss your project
